Calgary's Security Professionals Information Exchange (SPIE) Society is a non-profit member-based organization representing the interests of local Security Professionals. SPIE's mission is to promote and advance the information systems security profession. Membership in SPIE is unrestricted and open to all. Our Charter
Purpose
- To share our knowledge and experiences on computer security matters in order to help each of us improve security within our own organizations.
- Not intended as a vehicle for product or service promotion, sales presentation or other activity which is or perceived to be of greater benefit to the presenter than to the group members.
Membership
- This is not a Special Interest Group, but a group of professionals with broad responsibility in the computer and information security area within our organizations.
- May include representatives from large or small organizations, consultants, educators or others who can contribute to and benefit from the group.
- There is no charge for members to participate in the SPIE meetings.
- Please note: A Non-SPIE member charge of $15 will be payable to at the door by either cheque payable to SPIE or cash. Receipts for expense recording and deduction will be issued. (Sorry, no Credit or Debit cards).
Mode of Operation
- The group will meet, in Calgary, over lunch on the last Thursday of every month (except July, August and December) from approximately 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- The location and host will be rotated among members.
- Whenever possible, a formal presentation will be made at each meeting.
- Meeting topics and individual attendance will be recorded (optional) to enable people with certifications to obtain re-certification credits. Formal minutes will not be taken.
