The Department of Computer Science invites applications for a Manager, Research and Funding for the Institute for Security, Privacy and Information Assurance (ISPIA). This full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately one year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This senior level position reports to the Director or co-Directors of the Institute for Security, Privacy and Information Assurance (ISPIA) and works in conjunction with the academic staff associated with ISPIA, promoting research and development capabilities of ISPIA in academia, industry and government.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Initiate, lead, contribute and facilitate efforts related to research funding initiatives. In particular, identify academic, governmental or industrial sources of funding opportunities, and enable development of required applications
- Develop, establish and implement procedures to ensure that ISPIA fulfills its contractual obligations to its funding providers
- Act as the representative for ISPIA in liaising with industry at the local, national and international levels, as well as governmental appointees at the provincial and federal level responsible for affecting policy in the areas of information security and privacy
- Establish rapport with ISPIA members to gain an understanding of their research aspirations and capabilities in order to facilitate partnerships between Institute members and academia, industry and/or government
- Assist in coordinating the research mission of the institute
- Interact with members of the security profession at the local, provincial and national levels to increase the profile of the Institute and promote the capabilities of the Institute
- Oversee and contribute to the design and development of suitable promotional material, including a web-presence that accurately reflects the capabilities of the Institute
- Write reports detailing the work of the Institute, including those required by various granting agencies
- Manage the assistants to the two iCORE chairs (iCANTC and iCIS) and delegating tasks where appropriate to these individuals

- Master’s degree required or equivalent work experience in the information technology sector and familiarity with information security issues and technologies
- Experience working in a team setting
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and strong writing skills
- Strong problem solving skills and excellent judgment
